Each Monday, Curio412 will be highlighting good news of service and innovation in our communities!

Today we are highlighting Best Buddies Pennsylvania, serving their mission while pivoting their strategy. Best Buddies empowers the special abilities of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by helping them form meaningful friendships, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve self-advocacy and communication skills.

Not even Covid-19 can stop friendship in the City of Champions! Innovation has led to new ways to raise funds and spread the word. When unable to host their annual TasteBuds chef showcase, event Chair Jason Bertocchi, says that supporters and chefs enthusiastically became champions for a different kind of fundraiser. The Champion of the Year virtual peer-to-peer event, is a friendly competition that raises support and recognizes the community’s most active leaders of inclusion.

The collective impact of all Champions will generate countless opportunities for friendships, jobs, leadership and inclusive living for people with IDD.
