Each Monday, Curio412 will be highlighting good news of service and innovation in our communities both near and far!
This Monday we are grateful for the continued work of the Lighthouse Foundation, a Christian outreach organization meeting the needs of impoverished individuals and families in northern Allegheny and Butler Counties.
The Foundation operates the largest food pantry in Butler County and is the sole provider of transitional and interim housing for many individuals in its area. Since Covid hit, they have relieved burdens and provided hope to people in need. With vulnerable volunteers, their team has taken safety measures to stagger shifts and new volunteers have stepped up.
In 2020, their grocery-style food pantry converted to a drive-through model to provide for people safely. In addition, the Foundation has provided housing support and electronic devices for the education needs of students. Between April-May the Foundation humbly served 800 new individuals who were never in need before, but thankful for the helping hand.
